Recycling

At NorthSideBatteries we recycle several tonnes of batteries every week.

We test and recondition batteries whenever we can but if they can't be saved they are transported according to industry guidelines to an EPA licensed recycling plant. Lead acid batteries go through a crushing and separation process.

Lead is 99.98% recyclable. It is separated into lead paste and hard lead metals.

These lead products are then sold back to battery manufacturers so they can be turned into new batteries. 90% of recycled lead goes to making new car and truck batteries.

The acid is neutralised and recycled and the plastic is recycled.
